Our logo represents a woman: strong, vibrant, and active. We call it “Woman Rising.”
The logo is a work of art created by Ellen Schillace, a talented Minnesota artist. To see other work by Schillace, visit her website.
This poem, by Marianne Curry, one of our founding members describes the logo:
VOICE
Little girls are taught to dream
someday their prince will come.
Ah, sweet innocence.
Big girls are taught to seek
a partner to complete
themselves.
Many girls are not
allowed the choice
for they have no voice.
Big and little girls across the globe,
East or West, it matters not,
become chattel for the Sodomites,
Suffer humiliation, sexual
mutilation, exploitation, and
violent beatings, but worst of all...
they are forgotten...ignored.
We turn a blind eye.
We are mute.
Be careful, children.
There is great evil
lurking under cover
of religious frocks,
business jocks on jets,
and macho freaks
who flourish
under the banner of
first amendment rights
run amok,
to whom compassion
is a joke.
Rise up, good people.
For humanity's sake,
find your voice!
