Partner Match || Bridge to Change

Partner Match

Partner Match participants work with one of our International Partners in Brazil for 3-12 months. Our International Partner organizations are looking for particpants with a range of skills in a variety of fields - healthcare, education, technology - to assist their efforts in improving the lives of women and children.

Receipt of your application will be acknowledged within 2 business days.

Please apply at least 3 months before your intended departure to allow time for PWE to process your application and ensure your volunteer placement, as well as to allow you time get your visa and any vaccinations required, and book your flights.

Selection Process for Partner Match

  • PWE advertises the need for individuals with particular skills through its website, e-mail/mailing lists, and organizations with potential candidates. Individuals apply and are screened. The applicant is interviewed by phone.
  • Potential placement is reviewed with the International Partner, and possible goals or projects are identified that match the applicant’s skills. The applicant is notified of the possible goals or project, and if acceptable, completes the contract.
  • Applicant signs a contract and pays placement fee.
  • Applicant receives access to online orientation and may, if needed, register for language training (at own expense).
  • Participant secures visa and any required inoculations, and arranges travel. Participant provides copy of passport, visa, and travel itinerary to PWE.
  • Participant is provided contact information to local Program Coordinator to answer additional questions. Room and board arrangements are made for the applicant by local Program Coordinator. Applicant arranges pickup at the airport nearest to the host community, onsite orientation, and language training, if needed.
  • Participant travels to the host community and is met at the closest airport to the host community by the Program Coordinator, then transported to host family or other residence.
  • Applicant is oriented to the community and culture by Program Coordinator. Depending upon the particpants’s language skills, particpant takes a language immersion course, which may last 4-6 weeks.
  • Participant is oriented to work, on-site staff and work site and commences work.
  • Participant works 32-40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, throughout the time commitment.
  • Participant International Partner, and Program Coordinator provide an evaluation of the experience.

Bridge to Change

Bridge to Change is a unique, skill-building program designed for Indigenous women working to end violence against Indigenous women. Participants (Bridge Partners) will learn how to increase organizational leadership and management skills, as well as how to build a base of community support and involvement related to women and women’s issues
